What is motivation?

The main purpose of motivation is to encourage learning and facilitate education. Learning is an active process that needs to be motivated and guided towards the desired goals. Learning begins with self-birth but needs to be supported through motivation to continue learning. Motivation in the learning process is the effort to be ready. As the preparation increases, the attention given to the work at hand increases and the desired result is achieved so quickly. The better the preparation is, the better the result. strong sources of motivation.

It is stated that the behavior rewarded by psychologist Barbara Woods is more likely to be repeated and the rewards serve as a reinforcing motive. So what drives us to seek reward, and where do these awards come from to repeat our behavior?

The answer is internal and external motivation. The difference between the two is that they work in different ways and have different effects on an individual’s attitude and success. Starting with external motivation, it states that some people are sometimes motivated by external rewards. These; trophies, medals, money, praise, recognition from others and travels to tournaments. An example would be a professional footballer playing for money and trophies, or a trip to the world cup. He argues that external rewards can be powerful motivators, but on the other hand, over time, the individual rewards are increasingly evaluating external rewards. The effect of this often leads to an individual looking for unique rewards.

Intrinsic motivation is where individuals are motivated by the emotions within themselves. Rainer Martens  argued that the internal rewards were sincere satisfying emotions such as having fun, feeling competent and successful. An example of this could be a sprinter of 100 million people running for a quick sense of personal time rather than an external reward like a medal. Martens also adds that the unique rewards are fueled by self-motivation, and that we continue to look for opportunities to achieve that sensation. It can be seen that if Woods are intrinsically motivated, they are more likely to exhibit behavior at higher levels of motivation if they are externally rewarded, which could damage existing motivation and hinder performance.

Understanding the nature of motivation is important because motivation not only determines the intensity of the learning effort, but also how much of this effort is an activity of the total personality. Continuous motivation is needed to help students focus on the lessons to be learned. Some people who express their thoughts about motivation, which is an important variable of education, and who have suggestions on this subject are as follows.
